LOOP – THE PLACE FOR VIDEOART LOVERS was created in 2003, as an active and annual platform of dissemination, creation and discussion of time-based media. Together with our network of professionals, we see videoart as a new way to push the limits of art and society.

LOOP BARCELONA is the annual meeting point for videoart lovers from around the world. It takes the form of Festival + Fair. Every year, the LOOP Video Art Fair opens its doors in November in Barcelona.

LOOP Festival will present works by 800 artists to 200.000 visitors at 100 venues, ranging from important museums to restaurants and stores all over Barcelona. During two weeks, LOOP’08 will feature curated exhibitions, important video art collections, renown universities and international festivals.

The 40 galleries invited by the Committee for the LOOP Fair will present recent work by emerging and acclaimed artists to 4000 professionals, journalists, curators and collectors from around the world. This selection will be complemented by presentations of specialized magazines and international distribution companies. One highlight of the Guest Program is the annual El Bulli Dinner.

For the next three years, the LOOP Conference will be organized around the title “The Boundaries of Videoart”. This program consists of lectures, round tables, presentations and screenings. The keynote speaker in 2008 will be Hans Ulrich Obrist (Serpentine Gallery, London), the sessions will be moderated by Erich Berger (LABoral, Gijón), Christopher Eamon (Kramlich Collection, San Francisco), and Caroline Bourgeois (Frac Ile de France).

LOOP – THE PLACE FOR VIDEOART LOVERS counts with the support of the Government of Catalunya, the Spanish Ministery of Culture as well as other institutional and corporate sponsors. LOOP BARCELONA is widely covered in the national and international media, as one of the major events in videoart and audiovisual creation.
